ain't got no

I'm starting another tape compilation of heavy life changing tunes.  Don't switch that dial.

SF's Morrison Planetarium

Celebrating the Planetarium's 60th birthday this month!
Pictured here is the original star projector. The Academy has been looking to put it on display but it weighs something like 5,000 lbs. and the floors can't withstand its weight!

In 1952 the Planetarium opened and it was the most state of the art Planetarium in the world! The star projector worked flawlessly for years, it was even unscathed after the '86 Loma Prieta earthquake. I can remember going when I was young, a cutout of the San Francisco night skyline bordered the edge of the dome. In 2003 the Academy closed and they constructed the Planetarium we know today; the largest all-digital dome in the world with a 75-foot diameter projection screen tilted at a 30 degree angle!

Sibylle Baier

These beautiful home reel-to-reel tape recordings were made in Germany between 1970 and 1973.  Thirty years later, Sibylle's son compiled the songs on a CD as a gift to family members, and they were eventually released to the world in 2006.

deranged design

Winchester Mystery House
Visited Sarah Winchester's mansion the other weekend, a crazy tour of Victorian craftsmanship.  There were at least 4 organs that I saw, undoubtedly more in a house with 160 rooms.  You can never have too many super intricate pipe organs, really.

I can (sort of) play this on the organ!

BUTT-ON

I happened upon this cool website, THE BUTTON MUSEUM !  There are so many cool old-timey phrases(some of which I don't understand), rad art, and great lettering. CHECK IT OUT.

felis catus

"Project Purr is an all-volunteer feral cat advocacy, they fund a low cost feral cat/kitten spay/neuter program in Santa Cruz County available to all county residents, regardless of income. Barn cat program; trap-neuter-return; cat/kitten adoptions; focus is on reducing euthanasia of cats in the shelter and enhancing community health through trap-neuter-return programs and access to low-cost feral cat spay/neuter program and education and advocacy in the community.

Feral/community cats have a right to live!!

Trap-Neuter-Return is the most compassionate, humane, and effective way to reduce the population of feral cats.

Spay/neuter is the single most important thing we all can do to help the animals. There are not enough homes for all the animals in Santa Cruz County - and you can never stem the tide of homeless animals if you ignore the least understood and in the greatest danger - feral cats and kittens! "

This photo was posted recently, 5 ferals fixed, eartipped, and relocated to this pre-approved home! SO AWESOME.

ALSO, this is exciting:

Educational non-profit organization The Foundation for Critical Thinking just published Fairminded Fran and the Three Small Black Community Cats written by Dr. Linda Elder. She tells the story of Fairminded Fran, a young girl who finds three, small, black cats living behind her school. SO COOL.
